Sunny skies greeted the teams in Whirrol Flat just west of Taree on Saturday for round 1 of the AMSAG Southern Cross Rally series for 2023.
Sam and his Daughter Mikayla were piloting the MAX Cases Subaru Impreza starting car 26 in a field of nearly 50.
The roads that were used were a great combination of twisty uphill, and fast downhill shire roads that were all in great condition given the unusual weather over the past year.
After the first loop of stages, the MAX Cases team were sitting in 10th position overall, and went on to keep this position to the end of the rally, despite some minor fuel surge issues in the middle loop.
The next round for the MAX Cases rally team is the QLD round of the Australian Rally Championship in July located in Gympie.
